FAQs
What type of kimchi will we make?
We usually make Baechu Kimchi (with Chinese cabbage). Depending on the season, we may prepare other types such as Mu Kimchi (daikon radish) or Mul Kimchi (a watery, mild version without chili powder).
Can I make vegetarian kimchi?
Yes, a vegetarian version is available upon request. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.
Does kimchi contain any allergens?
We follow a traditional kimchi recipe, which includes the following ingredients that may be relevant if you have allergies or dietary restrictions: Shellfish — shrimp paste Fish — fish sauce Seaweed — kombu (kelp) Rice flour — gluten-free If you have a specific allergy or intolerance, please let us know in advance so we can discuss how to accommodate you. One more thing worth mentioning: we do have a house cat, though he tends to spend his time outdoors. If you have a cat allergy, just give us a heads-up and we'll make sure the space is well-ventilated and prepared for you.
Is kimchi gluten-free?
Yes! Our traditional recipe uses rice flour, which is naturally gluten-free. The rest of the core ingredients are also free from gluten. That said, if you have coeliac disease or a serious gluten sensitivity, do mention it when booking so we can double-check every component we'll be using that day.
How big is the group?
Each session is intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 6 participants. This keeps the atmosphere relaxed, hands-on, and personal. You'll come in as strangers and leave as friends — usually around a shared table full of food you made together. That's kind of the whole point.
Can I join with a group?
Absolutely! Coming with a partner or a friend makes for a lovely experience. For groups larger than two, we recommend booking a private group session — this way you get the whole space to yourselves and the social dynamic stays just right. Private sessions are especially popular for family gatherings, friend get-togethers, and celebrations. Get in touch and we'll arrange something special for you.
Do you organise private workshops?
Yes, and they're one of our most popular offerings! A private workshop is a wonderful way to celebrate with family, spend quality time with friends, or do something genuinely memorable together. We also regularly host corporate team building events — it turns out that making kimchi together is a surprisingly great way to get a team to bond. Hands-on, fun, and everyone goes home with something delicious. Reach out to us to check availability and put something together.
What’s served during the Kimchi Dining session?
This part is all about discovering the versatility of kimchi. Expect both classic and creative dishes—like kimchi pancakes, braised pork with kimchi, and fried rice—alongside unique creations such as kimchi cocktails, grilled kimchi, and even kimchi gelato.
Is the workshop held at a private home?
Yes! The workshop takes place in a one-of-a-kind home featured on the BinnensteBuiten TV program in 2024, known for its architectural design and garden backing onto Slot Zuylen. The kitchen has since been fully renovated to host small group cooking sessions in comfort.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes! Life happens. If you cancel at least 5 days before the event, you'll receive a full refund. Cancellations made after that date are unfortunately non-refundable, as we prepare ingredients and plan the session around our confirmed guests. If something comes up last minute, feel free to reach out — we're always happy to help you find a future date.
What should I bring to the workshop?
Please bring a container or jar that can hold up to 2 kg of kimchi. We recommend using a plastic container, as it’s safer for fermentation—glass jars have occasionally burst due to gas buildup. Other than that all ingredients and equipments are provided at the venue.
